Associate Professor Yang Song has received research support from the Charter School Research Collaborative at MIT’s Blueprint Labs. In collaboration with Geoffrey Kocks (MIT), she is leading a pilot study that examines the evolution of state-level charter school legislation since the 1990s and its implications for charter school performance.
The funded project, , focuses on key policy areas, including charter authorizing structures and accountability provisions. By exploiting cross-state and temporal variation in charter laws, the study evaluates how regulatory frameworks influence charter school entry and exit dynamics as well as student achievement outcomes.
